Creating a payment button with PayPal is a fairly straight forward process but there are a few tips many newbies aren’t aware of which add extra professionalism to your site and sales process.

In this video I’ll show you how to use an exisitng resale-rights salepages and modifiy it so that it contains the code that puts the payment directly into your paypal account.

Furthermore I’ll show you how to use the redirect function so your customer is sent directly to the product download page once the payment is processed, even if you are selling multipule products!

Once you’re aware of these little tricks then using PayPal will be fine for you to begin with. When you have a bit more experience you may want to consider a payment script alongside your PayPal account.

Why Use A Payment Script?

Security: Once you reveal your download link to someone there is nothing to stop them copying it and distributing it on the internet! As a solution you could use a script such as DLGuard which secures your download links.

Email Confirmation: The other benefit of using a script is that when a payment is complete in addition to forwarding your customer to the secure download link they will also be sent an email containing the link. This is something PayPal doesn’t do. Paypal does of course inform your customer that funds have been taken but it is more professional if you can send your own automated reponse to thank your customer and remind them of the download link.

Why start a blog… because content is king! … and you need to build your brand and build a list!

Just a year ago I was able to build a squeeze page and send traffic to it using PPC (such as Google Adwords) and I would get a decent 25% opt-in rate. I had nicely designed squeeze pages and good content to exchange for the contact name and email address but then things started tailing off.

Google Gave Me a Slap

First opt-in rates started to drop, not too drastically but then I got the “Google Slap”. This means that Google considered my squeeze pages in violation of their terms and conditions and threated to close my account.

Google wants to send web browsers to content and squeeze pages aren’t content – they are devices to collect data hopefully in return for good content. There are still plenty of other ways to send traffic to a squeeze page just not through Google Adwords anymore.

Maybe Google have a point. By considering my own habits I agree that this is a good thing. As someone who makes a living from internet marketing I spend a lot of time being sent to squeeze pages and I certainly pass on far more than I opt into.

How To Get The Opt-In

If I visit a blog and something catches my eye then I will have a read and the better the content the longer I’ll stick around. The longer I stick around the more likely I am to end up opting-in to get even more great content from the blog owner/conent provider.
